Waterfront Christmas
Before construction began, our team developed detailed artwork concepts to bring the vision to life. These designs allowed the client to see exactly how the display would look before we started building. Once approved, we moved into fabrication and installation, ensuring every detail stayed true to the concept.
The centrepiece of the display was a spectacular Christmas tree, designed with an ocean-inspired palette of deep blue, teal, gold and silver. These calming coastal colours gave the tree a sophisticated yet vibrant look. We custom built the tree base in our workshop and printed the graphics in-house for a flawless finish. To make the decorations truly unique, we CNC cut the Darwin Waterfront logo from brushed aluminium, creating striking custom ornaments. We also CNC cut stars featuring the names of all the retailers, giving the Waterfront a special way to thank its tenants. The result was a tree that perfectly blended festive tradition with coastal style, while also celebrating the local community.
Adding to the charm was our custom-built Santa Shack, styled to feel like a beach hut straight from the shoreline. Complete with bright coastal colours and playful details, it was the perfect spot for families to meet Santa and snap a photo in a relaxed, tropical setting. The shack was fitted with lockable doors so it could be secured after hours, keeping everything inside safe.
We kept Santa cool in Darwin’s hot and humid wet season with an installed air conditioner and a large fan inside the shack. Both were cleverly hidden behind the doors so they stayed out of sight in photos, while keeping Santa cool, calm and collected throughout the day.
To tie the entire display together, we designed and CNC cut custom decorations with a Christmas beach theme, from stars to baubles. Each piece was hand painted to complement the Christmas tree’s colour scheme. We also lined the pathways with twinkling fairy lights, creating a warm and magical glow each evening for visitors strolling through the Waterfront.
We partnered with Gulliver’s Tavern in Kununurra to develop a vintage motorbike-inspired brand. From the logo and banner design to custom merchandise like stubby coolers and stickers, we created a strong visual identity that reflected the tavern’s charm, appealed to both locals and travellers, and turned souvenirs into lasting brand connections.
The Darwin Waterfront makes for a unique and magical setting for a holiday display. That’s why we were proud to take on a project for a surf shack themed Christmas display. Our team of skilled graphic designers and builders got to work creating a custom design that captured the laid-back, beachy vibe of a surf shack, while also incorporating the festive spirit of the holiday season.
This Visitor Centre was designed to celebrate the richness and complexity of the Jawoyn culture using sculpture, illustration and signage. Working closely with the Jawoyn community, The Interpretive Design Company and John Van Der Kolk the entire exhibition is themed on the Jawoyn five seasons calendar.
We designed and installed a custom-built Easter Maze at Casuarina Square. The maze featured colourful Easter theming, decorations and interactive elements, creating a fun and engaging seasonal attraction for kids and families.
